Fourth Conference of
the Statistics and Data Science Section of
the Italian Statistical Society

March, 30th – April, 1st, 2026, Caserta, Italy.

Researchers and practitioners interested in Statistics and Data Science, as well as in related methodological and applied fields, are invited to submit papers to the Fourth Conference of the Statistics and Data Science (SDS) Section of the Italian Statistical Society SDS 2026. The conference is jointly organised by SDS, the Archivio di Stato di Caserta, and the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”. The sessions will be held within the monumental complex of the Royal Palace of Caserta.
The Archivio di Stato di Caserta preserves extensive documentary collections produced by pre-unification and post-unification public institutions, as well as archives of public bodies, families, individuals, associations, and private organisations of significant historical interest. These collections constitute large-scale, heterogeneous, and evolving data repositories, encompassing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured information across long time horizons. The increasing availability of digital research tools, such as inventories, guides, and catalogues, provides a natural link with contemporary challenges in Statistics and Data Science, including data integration, textual data analysis, metadata modelling, information retrieval, uncertainty quantification, and ethical data use.
In this context, the joint organisation of the conference with the Archivio di Stato di Caserta highlights the continuity between historical data stewardship and modern data-driven methodologies.
